Message TV or Radio. It's a variable resistor that changes value as the throttle shaft is rotated. Others have posted that they needed to clean the rotator contacts inside to get a smooth voltage reading (and no idle issues - jumping around, etc.)

If your TPS is new (sorry - don't remember old postings) - then maybe the issue is harness connector related (breaking contact with the TPS from time to time?). I'd wedge something in the throttle pulleys to get the car idling at maybe 2k RPM and then start wiggling the TPS connector and wiring to see if anyting changes?
